A Life of Books

(Because this is exactly what I feel like)

 

So, most of you already know this, but I started a BookTube channel!

*insert happy whale noises*

YES YES I DID!

I did.

I did????????????

Okay, well, I’m terrified. Like, waaay scared. Putting my actual face on the actual internet? AND TALKING???

SO I CAN’T EVEN TALK TO REAL PEOPLE MUCH LESS MONOLOGUE TO A CAMERA.

It took me fourteen takes to make ONE video. Those videos all started with promise that said “HELLO WORLD, WENDY GREENE IS MAKING HER ENTRANCE INTO THE BOOKTUBE COMMUNITY WITH CONFIDENCE, HUMOR, AND GUSTO. WATCH OUT, ‘CAUSE HERE SHE COMES.”

And, a few seconds later, ended with “I am a frightened little human who has no idea what she’s doing, she is going to go read a book and forget all about this crazy idea she has.”

Needless to say, I PUT OUT A VIDEO ANYWAY. I just did it. I regretted it, but I did it.

And you know what? I was a little proud of myself. I still think it came out embarrassingly amateur, but I uploaded it anyway.

And I almost think it was the bravest thing I’ve ever done.

So I’m saying all of this for a reason.

1. In the wise words of Nike, “JUST DO IT.”
2. People will judge you. That is a fact. But you can’t care. It will stop you from exploring things you never knew you would enjoy.
3. If, for some crazy reason, you don’t enjoy the thing, you know a little bit about it anyway! You don’t have to be tied down by things you don’t like. If for some (very improbable) reason I just don’t like BookTubing, there is no shame in stopping.

I don’t know where my BookTubing will go. I may have two subscribers as long as I live, but that doesn’t matter. I’m doing something that I enjoy doing.

I don’t know how to do it yet, but I enjoy it!

So I don’t know where I was going with this post, but here ya go!
